About the Author

ARTHUR J. WORSTER is President of Worster Associates, LLC. As a business executive and later a global consulting leader, he developed and utilized methodologies to implement IT-supported change in Fortune 500 companies. He has also served as program consultant to a number of companies and executives.

THOMAS R. WEIRICH, PhD, CPA, is the Jerry and Felicia Campbell Endowed Professor of Accounting at Central Michigan University (CMU) and former chair of its School of Accounting. He has public accounting experience with both international and domestic firms and has served in the Office of Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission.

FRANK ANDERA, EDD, is professor and past chairman of the Department of Business Information Systems at Central Michigan University. He is the Director of the SAP University Alliances program at CMU and an active member and participant in SAP University Alliances international and statewide programs.

The benefit of effective leadership

I found this book very useful in understanding how to gain the greatest benefit from and ERP systems. But more than just ERP, the examples and lessons offered provide the reader with great insight on how good management may improve any change to the business process. The authors could easily added “through effective leadership” to the title. The concepts and guidance provided in this book can be applied to any set of business initiatives in any industry. My major take away from this book was the significant benefits that can be realized by clearly and thoroughly understanding the business process being addressed, establishing an appropriate level of management oversight and commitment to an initiative, maintaining a view of the value, and the providing required training. While these seem like common sense steps, the book explains why they are often missed and how to overcome the shortcomings.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Theodore A. Stern, M.D., is Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Chief of the Avery D. Weisman Psychiatry Consultation Service at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Board certified in psychiatry and neurology, Dr. Stern is the author or co-author of more than 200 scientific articles and book chapters and 10 books, including "The Massachusetts General Hospital Guide to Primary Care Psychiatry".

Mikkael A. Sekeres, M.D., M.S., is a staff oncologist at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Assistant Professor of Medicine at The Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, and a former Clinical Fellow at Harvard Medical School. A leading oncologist, Dr. Sekeres has written on topics in oncology for both the medical professional as well as the general public. His work has been published in both scientific and nonscientific journals.

Psychiatry Update and Board Review

The best psychiatry review book I have read. Very comprehensive. Reviews all the latest therapeutic techniques, including a good review on psychopharmacology. Also covers Neurology, which is especially important to review when preparing for the boards. I liked the questions which helped me to test what I have learned. I feel well prepared for the boards after reading this book. It has saved me thousands of dollars I might have otherwise spend on a board review course.

Not too impressed

I got this book because of the good review here, but i must say that i was not impressed by this book at all. The details are too sketchy even for a review book. Some of the stastistics are diffrent from standards such as the ECA and NCS studies.
It has great potential as book to use as framework and using another book like kaplock/saddock to confirm facts or expand info.

As good as its going to get

Unlike the Steps, there is a dearth of review guides for subspecialty boards. This book is one of the only available options for the psychiatry boards and is about as good as it is going to get. Now, maybe you're the ambitious type who is completely ok with taking a few spins through Kaplan & Saddock during the summer months before the boards. But guess who is not one of those people? This girl.

This book is comprehensive, covers all the major topics in psychiatry and neurology, and is mostly reflective of what is on the boards. If you read this and were half awake during residency you should pass without too much trouble. Each chapter is written by different authors and some are more clear and helpful than others. The layout is bland text with hundreds of pages of black-and-white print with no pictures. This is a surefire way to put you right to sleep face down on this book. That being said, I do not recommend this book as a pillow. Not comfy in the least.
